Blood and Transfusion Medicine

The department is well furnished with the latest technology machines to provide you with the best of service and care. Utmost care is taken while performing the blood transfusion procedure so that the blood-borne infections are prevented. The department provides safe leuko-depleted, Micro-particle Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) and Chemiluminescent Microparticle Immunoassay (CMIA) tested blood. The Blood Bank has equipped with Nucleic Acid Testing (NAT) facility ensuring the safety of blood meant for transfusion. Blood utilisation is optimised by separating blood into its various components like red cell concentrate, platelet concentrate, fresh frozen plasma and cryoprecipitate. The aim of the department is to promote the use of various components to ensure optimum utilisation of blood and also to ensure that the patient receives the safest possible blood by testing for various markers.

Department of Neurosurgery is equipped with a Zeiss operating microscope in the operation theatre.  There is a dedicated operation theatre with horizontal laminar air flow.  Also, equipment for endoscopic surgery is available.  The department is supported by 512 slice CT scan and 1.5 Tesla silent MRI scan.

A well-trained neurosurgeon from Apollo Hospital-Chennai is available full time at Durgapur.

Urology

The Urology Department is a treasured Department of Healthworld hospitals. This is the first Laser Urosurgery centre outside Kolkata. Dr Manoj Sudhrania from CMC Vellore, Dr Vikas Kumar from SGPGI Lucknow, has been doing really superlative interventions. Retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) the state of art therapy for renal stones is done regularly in our institute and the patient satisfaction index itself speaks volumes about the achievement of the department.

Urology department is well equipped with holmium laser and all other regular equipment for the surgery of the prostate, urinary bladder, kidney, ureter etc.   All necessary facilities are available for management of the stone of kidney or ureter. Laser prostate surgery facility is also available.

Urological cancer surgery facility is available with frozen section biopsy inside operation theatre and routine histopathology services along with immunohistochemistry in the laboratory.

A full-time well-trained urologist from Hyderabad is available round the clock in Durgapur.

Radiology

The Department offers a complete range of diagnostic and interventional radiology services. The department has modern state-of-the-art equipment such as 512 slice CT, 3D&4D ultrasound machines and digital X-ray. The department is open 24 x 7 and offers a complete range of diagnostic and interventional imaging services.  The Radiology Information system is integrated with a state of the art Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), providing convenient access to images from multiple modalities. Patients have access to Radiology Reports through the portal from outside the system.

Pulmonology & Chest medicine

Plastic Surgery

The plastic surgery and Burn Management department is taken care of by Dr Kaushik Pal . In Maxillofacial interventions Dr Dipashree Pal is an able accompaniment. The skills have already been endorsed by the patients who have been treated by them . After consolidating surgical care they are keenly interested in cosmetic interventions too which is to be started in a systematised fashion soon.

The Department offers correction or restoration of form and function of a part of the body, where the defect may be the result of a congenital abnormality, an accident, a disease or an ageing process. The department routinely performs many types of reconstructive surgeries such as hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns. The consultants also perform cosmetic and aesthetic surgeries like rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, liposuction, facial implants and jaw correction surgeries.

The surgeons also perform surgeries for congenital defects like cleft palates or cleft lips, microtia or absent ear, facial clefts/colobomas and congenital hand anomalies. They also perform micro-vascular surgeries which include limb and digital re-implantations and repair of nerve injuries.

Physiotherapy

The department of Physiotherapy of Healthworld Hospitals has state of the art therapeutic equipments. Since the beginning of this hospital we have treated 100s of patients with mechanical low back pain, tendon and ligament injuries and other ailments. The rehabilitation wing of the department has helped people recover from a wide range of disabilitating diseases starting from stroke and spinal cord injury to post-covid lung fibrosis. Here we help recover from replacement arthroplasty and regain full function at the earliest. We also have a full-fledged practice of advanced physical therapeutic interventions which are a first in the district.

We have a Tie-up with Zimmer Medicine System, Germany. There is a state of the art Zimmer lab at par with any lab in the world.

We also have a Class 4 laser that provides an alternative to surgery as it causes tissue healing and analgesia. We have advanced electrotherapy devices which are used for neurological and orthopaedic diagnosis as well as therapeutic purposes. The MW Diathermy that we have causes deep heating of tissues which causes an increase in extensibility and also causes hyperemia which facilitates tissue healing. Integratively, they provide fast relief to pain and other debilitating issues.

The International Association for the Study of Pain defines pain as: An unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with, or resembling that associated with, actual or potential tissue damage.

Beyond convention-he left the permanent job to train him for taking care of the children with heart disease from Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi under Diplomat National Board (2011-2013). Neurology

The Neurology Department is mentored by a young dynamic Neurologist Dr Upendra Shah. He has started his work recently but already with the help of Neurosurgery team Dr Sunil Kumar have put forward a Stroke programme the benefits of which has already begun to evident. A stroke patient is being thrombolysed within 4hrs and the residual paralysis becomes minimal. The haemorrhagic strokes are ably tackled by the neurosurgeons. Besides that the tumour surgeries and spinal surgeries are also happening regularly with satisfactory response. We all know that in Neurosurgery previously the reward of surgery was minimal. However with improvement of technique , expertise, and equipments the success rate has improved internationally but not to that great extent as other specialities. However the two expert surgeons Dr Manoj Maji, from Apollo Chennai and Dr Sunil Kumar from NH Ahmedabad are with us and have already dealt with quite a large number of critical cases with internationally acceptable results. Endoscopic neurosurgery is a speciality where both surgeons excel and the reviews have been very positive .

To add to it Healthworld are the Eastern Zonal partners of Apollo Hospitals for Organ transplantation – heart, Liver and Kidney. Already quite a number of cases are being processed for the same. Nephrology Department is equipped with 12 haemodialysis machines for the management of acute and chronic renal failure patients.  Also, peritoneal dialysis facility and arrangement for training and counselling of patients.  In addition, kidney biopsy facility is also available in the laboratory.  Interventional procedures of renal vascular problems are also done in most modern Cath Lab of the Hospital.
